Flibco (Charleroi Airport Shuttle)
If you fly to CRL - Brussels South Charleroi Airport, you'll probably take a Flibco shuttle bus to reach Ghent. This is the only easy way to reach Ghent coming from our low-cost airport.
More info: https://www.flibco.com/en/.
In case you prefer to take the more frequent shuttle bus to Brussels, you will arrive at the Brussels Midi Train Station. There you can take a direct train to Gent-Sint-Pieters. Eventually it will take you longer to arrive in Ghent though.
- Book your ticket in advance! The earlier you book, the cheaper it can get. If you're lucky, it will be €5, if you buy it at the desk (which is outside, next to the elevators to the parking lots) when you arrive at the airport it will be almost €20 one-way.
- If you miss your bus because your flight is delayed, Flibco lets you board the next bus free of charge if there are spots left.
- The buses to Ghent (with destination Bruges) depart from platform 2, outside the terminal. Sometimes there's a long queue at the entrance of the platforms, but that's only for the shuttle to Brussels on platform 1. You can skip the line and go straight to platform 2.
- You'll arrive in the Sint-Denijslaan, which is at the back side of our main train station Gent-Sint-Pieters.
- Walk through the tunnel under the train station to reach the tram stop.
- Check out our 'The City of Ghent'-page for further information about getting to the city centre.

International Bus Companies (FlixBus, EuroLines, ...)
With FlixBus, you can reach Ghent from 37 different destinations. You all know how FlixBus works. More info about the connections from/to Ghent is available on: https://www.flixbus.co.uk/coach/ghent. Same works for EuroLines. More info on https://www.eurolines.eu.
You'll arrive close to the smaller train station Gent-Dampoort. This station is closer to the city centre than Gent-Sint-Pieters, but the transport connections are more difficult. You can walk to the hostel (20-25 min walk) or take city bus nr. 3 at the bus stop under the railway bridge.
If the bus to Ghent is not available, too expensive or if it has difficult hours, you can alternatively take one to Brussels (or Bruges or Antwerp). Brussels obviously has far more connections, for FlixBus for example up to Spain, Italy, Sweden and even Romania. Note that the bus Bucharest-Brussels takes 42 hours though, including a three-hour change in Vienna.
In Brussels, you would arrive at the Brussels North Train Station. There you can take a direct train to Gent-Sint-Pieters.
